Nuria Enguita Mayo

Madrid, España, 1967

Bachelor’s degree in Art History and Theory from the University of Madrid. She is a member of the management team of the arteypensamiento program of the Andalucía International University (Unia), where she is conducting the Narrativas de Fuga program of seminars with artists, in which Alice Creischer and Eduardo Molinari/Archivo Caminante have taken part. She is coeditor of ‘Afterall Journal’.

From 1991 to 1998 she worked at Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (Ivam) as a curator, where she curated exhibitions by Cildo Meireles, José Antonio Orts and Juan Downey, among others. She organized the Scattered Affinities collective exhibition in New York and Madrid, and a selection of 60s and 70s films and videos for the Museo Serralves collection (1998). She formed part of the group of curators who organized Manifesta 4, Francfurt (2002).

From June 1998 to September 2008 she was responsible for projects of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, where she organized exhibitions and publications for Chris Marker, Renée Green, Rainer Oldendorf, Eulàlia Valldosera, Victor Burgin, Asger Jorn, Jon Mikel Euba, Sanja Ivekovic, Pedro G. Romero, Ibon Aranberri and Steve McQueen, among others, in addition to seminars and cinema and video seasons.

She has also worked in projects such as ‘Culturas de archivo o Tour-ismes’ and ‘La derrota de la disensió’. Similarly, she has organized exhibitions of Eulàlia Valldosera and Ibon Aranberri’s work for the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. She is currently working on a Leonor Antunes exhibition for the Museo Serralves and Kunstverein Dusseldorf, and a retrospective of Luis Claramunt for the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (Macba).
