Galería LaMutante

A space managed and directed by Nicolas Cadavid, Efrain Marino and Irene Rodriguez. Since 2006, their efforts are directed towards the revitalization and strengthening of the artistic field in Bucaramanga (Colombia) through a wide range of curatorial projects, publications, virtual conferences, workshops and art auctions.

Their projects have participated in the Salon of the Rejected (2007); Artistic Residency Program GLM-07 (2007), ‘The Company’, Festival of Performance (2007, 2008), The Box (2008, 2009 and 2011), and Why Cube (2011). They have been invited to participate in events and projects such as ‘La Otra’ (The Other Woman), International Fair of Contemporary Art (Bogotá, 2007), XXXVII International Culture Festival of Boyacá (Tunja, 2009), Latin American Traffic Concepción (2010): ‘¿Ser en común?’(To be in Common?), collective discussions in ‘Lugar a dudas’ (In Doubt) (Cali, 2010), and Campus Party (Bogotá, 2011).

LaMutante will take place in MDE11 ‘Apuntes al margen’ (Notes on the Margin), a proposal with three projects:

‘Ultraliviano. Residencia artística’ (Ultralight. Artistic Residence). An exhibition with the participation of senior students from the Medellín art schools, a scenario that will make it possible to carry out an analysis of art teaching conditions in the city. The second project is called ‘Defienda su talento’ (Defend your Talent): a small mobile stage will be installed in different spaces in Medellín for those who are interested in showing off their skills or knowledge in areas such as dancing, singing, poetry, among others, simultaneously, the artist Antonio Caro a will organize a workshop which will end with a panel of participants. Finally there is ‘Hágala fácil’ (Make it Easy) a project that consists of interviews with those interested in transmitting their knowledge through simple video-workshops, the resulting video will be presented at night in various public spaces in the city.

‘Notes on the Margin’ will deepen the exchange of knowledge with the public, not only based on academic processes, but also based on popular lore, the other half of the playing field.
