Proyectos Ultravioleta

Proyectos Ultravioleta is a multifaceted platform for experimenting in contemporary art formed in 2008 in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

It is a space devoted to producing art exhibitions, multidisciplinary projects, discussion forums, concerts, happenings, interventions in urban space and platforms for acting as an intermediary with other local and foreign projects.

Together with the Taller Sitio (host space), in collaboration with Beatriz López, Pablo León de la Barra and the MDE11 curator team, Proyectos Ultravioleta proposes the Encuentro Internacional (Cheverista) de Medellín 2011, MDE(CH)11.

This Encuentro will be held from 11 to 25 October and will bring together a group of artists and thinkers and cultural players who share a general interest in Latin America.

MDE(CH)11 is a platform for the holding of:

“Lightning exhibitions” managed by the different art spaces invited to MDE(CH)11.

“Intellectual banquets” consisting of talks and discussions on food, where several of the topics put forward at the exhibitions will be examined in greater depth.

“Cheveroteca”: a virtual space in which to share essays, manifestos, music, videos, images, documents in PDF format and other archives dealing with subjects related to “cheverismo” and Latin America.

First Cheverista Exhibition:  a collaboration bringing together all the participants in the event and a series of artworks by different contemporary Latin American artists.

The Encuentro Internacional (Cheverista) de Medellín 2011 reiterates and extends the invitation for all “cheveristas” to join the project, multiply the possibilities of collaboration and generate a chain invitation/collaboration to make it possible to carry the initial aim of MDE11 to its ultimate fruition.
